Analysis of Roland-Story's HOIC victory over Greene County in volleyball
The Roland-Story volleyball team swept Greene County in Heart of Iowa Conference play Sept. 9 at Story City. The victory put the Norse at 8-2 on the season and 2-0 in the conference. Here are key takeaways from the win:
Roland-Story got stronger as the match continued
The Norse pulled off a 25-23 squeaker in the opening set. They won a competitive 25-20 battle in the second then dominated the third set, 25-12.
The Norse had a solid attack
Roland-Story averaged 11.3 kills per set. The Norse had a 15.4 % kill-efficiency rate. Reagan Barkema had 12 kills on 38 % efficiency, Reagan Faber five kills on 25 % efficiency and Ally Ringsby five kills at 15 % efficiency. Madison Geise finished with seven kills on 31 % efficiency and she also did a tremendous job running the attack in recording 22 assists.
Roland-Story's back row was active
The Norse averaged 19.7 digs per set. Geise and Ringsby tallied 12 digs apiece. Jacyln Gessner finished with 10 and Faber and Barkema six apiece.
Serving was solid
Roland-Story served at 90 % accuracy with eight aces against seven errors. Geise finished with four aces on 14 of 15 serving. Ringsby was a perfect 18 of 18 with one ace, Gessner 10 of 11 with one ace and Faber 9 of 10 with an ace.
