Here are the top Ames-area high school sports performers for week of April 25-May 1

Ballard's Paityn Noe claimed a white flag by winning the girls 3,000-meter run and Ames hurdler and sprinter Ali Frandsen had a big weekend at the Drake Relays last Thursday through Saturday in Des Moines.

The Gilbert golf teams continued to roll, with the girls taking the Mustang Classic and Roland-Story Tournament and the boys winning the Winterset Invitational. Mayzi Weig turned in a big game for the Nevada girls soccer team against Perry, Alexis Winkey and Cameron Moon stepped up for the Ames girls in a win over Marshalltown and Ian Jurgensen helped the Little Cyclone boys earn two victories.

Ballard had multiple athletes excel during the week in golf, tennis and soccer, and Collins-Maxwell, Roland-Story and Nevada had athletes compete at Drake. 

Here are the top Ames Tribune area individual performers for the week:

Paityn Noe

Paityn Noe

Ballard junior Paityn Noe gave the Ballard girls track team a Drake Relays champion in the high school girls 3,000-meter run for the second year in a row.

Noe ran a winning time of nine minutes, 53.31 seconds to beat the 9:56.91 by West Des Moines Valley's Addison Dorenkamp for the white flag. Ballard's Shewaye Johnson won the event last year.

Noe also placed 17th in the girls 1,500 on Saturday despite taking an early spill. Her time was 4:52.67.

Ali Frandsen

The Ames junior took fourth in the 400 hurdles with a PR time of 1:04.79 and sixth in the 100 hurdles with a 15.69 effort at the Drake Relays.

Frandsen also helped Ames place second in the girls 4x400 with a time of 3:56.57 and third in the 4x200 with a 1:44.60 showing.

Will Bunn

The Roland-Story senior tied for 10th in the boys long jump at Drake with a jump of 21 feet, 1.75 inches.

Bunn also ran in the 4x100 prelims, helping Roland-Story place 24th with a time of 43.93.

Caeden DaSilva

DaSilva took 16th in the boys 100 dash prelims for Nevada at Drake.

DaSilva ran a time of 11.32. He also anchored Nevada to a 54th-place finish in the boys 4x100 prelims with a time of 44.63.

Ellie Lynch

Ellie Lynch

Lynch was the anchor on the Ames girls 4x400 team at Drake.

She also ran in the 4x200 and helped Ames place sixth in the sprint medley (1:49.14) and ninth in the 4x100 prelims (50.01). 

Madison Geise

Geise took 14th in the girls discus at Drake for Roland-Story.

Geise achieved her peak throw of 116-5 on her second attempt.

Corey Phillips

Corey Phillips

Phillips turned in a seventh-place performance in the boys discus for Ames at Drake last Thursday.

Phillips hit his best throw of 170-1 on his first attempt.

Mayzi Weig

Weig had a big night on offense for the Nevada girls soccer team in a 10-0 victory over Perry April 25 at Perry.

Weig scored 4 goals in the Cub romp.

Alexis Winkey

Winkey turned in a strong all-around game for the Ames girls soccer team in a 7-1 victory at Marshalltown April 26.

Winkey scored 2 goals and she also dished out a pair of assists during the win.

Cameron Moon

Moon pulled off a hat-trick for the Ames girls in the victory over Marshalltown.

Moon scored 3 goals against the Bobcats.

Isabel Andreotti

Andreotti scored both goals for the Ames girls against Bellevue West (Ill.) Saturday at Burlington.

Ames lost the game by a 3-2 score.

Ian Jurgensen

Jurgensen helped the Ames boys soccer team run its winning streak to four games with a 4-0 victory at home against Marshalltown April 26 and a 4-1 win at Indianola Friday.

Jurgensen netted 2 goals in each game. 

Brock Snyder

Brock Snyder

Snyder won medalist for the defending 3A state champion Gilbert boys golf team during the Winterset Invitational Friday at the Lakeview Country Club in Winterset.

Snyder shot an even-par round of 70 over 18 holes to beat Winterset's Luke Linde by 2 strokes for medalist honors. He helped Gilbert shoot a 297 as a team to cruise to the team championship by 14 strokes.

Mason Gatchel

Gatchel continued his outstanding freshman season for the Ballard boys golf team by winning medalist at a home triangular dual with Winterset and Carlisle April 25 at the Lakeview Country Club.

Gatchel shot a 38 over 9 holes to beat Linde by 1 stroke for the win. Ballard shot a 167 as a team to come in second to Winterset's 161.

Alliyah Thompson

Thompson placed fourth at the Woodward-Granger Invitational for the Ballard girls golf team April 28.

Thompson shot a 103 over 18 holes. Ballard took second out of six teams behind Adel-Desoto-Minburn with a score of 406.

Thompson also placed sixth to lead Ballard in a quadrangular dual with Roland-Story, Carlisle and Winterset April 25 in Huxley. Thompson shot a 48 over 9 holes.

Brooke Loewe

Loewe scored a hat-trick with 3 goals for the Ballard girls soccer team during a 10-0 victory over Humboldt Friday at Huxley.

Loewe also put the ball in the net twice during a 6-2 victory at Panorama April 26.

Edgar Cabrera

Cabrera scored the tying goal in the final minutes of regulation for the Nevada boys soccer team against Perry April 25 at Cub Stadium in Nevada.

Cabrera's goal knotted the score at 1-1 and forced overtime. The Cubs eventually won in a shootout, 2-1.

Cabrera also scored 1 goal and dished out 2 assists in a 6-0 victory over Central Iowa United April 28 in Nevada.

Owen Freeman

Freeman made a save on Perry's final attempt during Nevada's shootout victory over the Bluejays.

Freeman had 8 saves during the victory. He also made 3 saves in the victory over CIU.

Kenny Cutler

Cutler won the 400 hurdles at the Gilbert Quadrangular boys track meet Friday.

Cutler ran a time of 58.54 to win the race by almost nine seconds. He also won the long jump with a distance of 17-5.5.

Alexis Houge

Houge anchored the Collins-Maxwell girls track team to a win in the 4x200 relay at the Tiger Invitational April 26 in Madrid.

The Spartans won with a time of 1:53.07. Houge also placed third in the 100 dash with a time of 13.27.

Houge helped the Collins-Maxwell girls place 65th during the Drake Relays girls 4x100 prelims Saturday with a time of 52.09,
