Story City Herald sports round-up: Norse baseball, softball teams end their seasons

The Roland-Story softball and baseball teams both saw their seasons come to a close last week.

The ninth-ranked Norse softball team fell by an 8-0 score to Ballard in the Class 3A regional semifinals Saturday at Roland. The Roland-Story baseball team suffered a 6-1 loss at the hands of Grundy Center during the 2A district semifinals July 5 at Dike.

Reagan Faber was 3-for-4 in both 3A regional games for the Roland-Story softball team last week.

The Roland-Story softball team was held to four hits by Ballard's Brooklyn Baumgardner Saturday. Reagan Faber was 3-for-4 with three singles and Hayden Walters singled once.

Madison Geise took the loss on the mound after giving up five runs, just one earned, on five hits and three walks in 5 2/3 innings. Alyssa Jones allowed three runs — two earned — on three hits with one strikeout in 1/3 of an inning and Adison Sabatino threw a scoreless inning of relief.

The Norse softball team ended its season with a 20-10 record.

The Roland-Story baseball team finished 19-7. Statistics for its game with Grundy Center were not available at press deadline.
