Goeders places first in shot put at HOIC meet

The Roland-Story girls’ track team placed fifth in a weather-shortened Heart of Iowa Conference meet May 1 at Jefferson.

North Polk placed first with 129 points, followed by PCM 104, Gilbert 91, Greene County 85, Roland-Story 61, Nevada 57, Saydel 42, and South Hamilton 36.

Rylie Goeders won the shot put event with a throw of 35-03.50. Dana Vinson placed fourth with a distance of 32-05.75.

MaKayla Geise placed sixth in the discus with a throw of 93-05. Goeders placed ninth with a throw of 90-11.

In the long jump, Ava Charlson placed eighth with a jump of 14-06. Kim Hendrian placed 13th with 11-11.50.

In the high jump, Rachel Patton placed fifth and Jadyn Nelson placed sixth, with heights of 4-10 and 4-06.

Anna Peach ran the 100-meter dash in 15.05, and Reagan Vogelaar in 15.25.

Kylie Tjernagel placed sixth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.51. Juliann Clark came in 10th with a time of 29.34. Maddy Arthur placed 11th in the 400-meter dash in 1:12.63.

In the 800-meter run, Taryn Perry placed seventh with a time of 2:48.37. In the 3,000-meter run, Kaitlyn Kilstofte and Perry placed sixth and seventh, respectively, with times of 12:27.34 and 12:58.40.

Charlson placed 12th in the 100-meter hurdles in 18.68, and Rachel Patton was 13th in 18.76.

Charlson had a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles, with a time of 1:15.98.

Roland-Story’s team of Vogelaar, Peach, Nelson and Braelyn Keigley placed seventh in the 4x200 relay with a time of 2:05.06.

In the 4x800 relay, the team of Hailey Louw, Arthur, Morgan Blythe and Jenna Hoskins placed fifth with a time of 12:09.87.

Dani Grady, Sydney Lively, Cora Twedt and Grace Froehlich teamed up in the 400-meter shuttle hurdle relay and took fifth place with a time of 1:27.71.

Placing fifth in the 800 sprint medley relay, with a time of 2:02.37, were the team comprised of Charlson, Taryn Johnston, Clark and Tjernagel.

The Norse placed second in the 1,600-meter medley relay with a time of 4:40.85. The team members were Patton, Johnston, Tjernagel and Clark.
